Managing General Agents

Maryland statute requires Managing General Agents (MGA’s) to apply for a Certificate of Qualification from the Maryland Insurance Administration under §§ 8-202 and 2-112 of the Insurance Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

The Maryland Certificate of Qualification expires annually on June 30.  The Certificate of Qualification should be renewed between April 1 and June 30 in accordance with §§8-205 and 2-112 of the Insurance Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland.  An MGA wishing to renew its Certificate of Qualification is required to file annually with the MIA the following: 

  • Renewal Application
  • Annual renewal fee of $30 (non-refundable) made payable to the Maryland Insurance Administration.
