Licensed Rating Organizations

 

In accordance with Section 11-218 of the Insurance Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, an applicant desiring to be licensed as a rating organization in Maryland is required to file with the Maryland Insurance Administration the following:

  • Renewal application.
  • A copy of its constitution, articles of agreement or association, or certificate of incorporation and its bylaws, rules and regulations that govern the conduct of its business.
  • A list of its members and subscribers.
  • An appointment of the Commissioner as agent for the acceptance of service of process.
  • A statement of its qualifications as a rating organization.
  • Licensing fee of $25 (non-refundable) made payable to the Maryland Insurance Administration.

Upon receipt of the documents listed above and the filing fee, a determination will be made to grant or deny the application wholly or partly.

A license as a rating organization expires three years after its effective date.
