Licensing Requirements for Reinsurance Intermediaries

In accordance with Title 8, Subtitle 5 of the Insurance Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, companies or individuals desiring to be licensed as Reinsurance Intermediaries are required to file with the Maryland Insurance Administration the following:

  • Reinsurance Intermediary Application.
  • An appointment of the Commissioner as agent for the acceptance of service of process.
  • Application fee of $25 (non-refundable) made payable to the Maryland Insurance Administration.

Each license will expire on the first July after its effective date and in an odd-numbered year.

Once licensed, parties acting as reinsurance intermediaries are required to apply bi-annually to renew their license by submitting the following: ​

 Filings and fees must be received on or before June 30 for bi-annual renewal.
