Long-Term Care Hearing to be Held January 9, 2017

The Maryland Insurance Administration will conduct a public hearing on specific rate increase requests being made by certain Long-Term Care Insurance carriers operating in Maryland. The hearing will focus on several rate increase requests before the Maryland Insurance Administration. These include requests from Bankers Life and Casualty Company, John Alden Life Insurance Company, Senior Health Insurance Company of Pennsylvania, Physicians Mutual Insurance Company and Northwestern Long-Term Care Insurance Company. The purpose of the hearing is for insurance company officials to explain their reasons for the rate increases. Commissioner Redmer will also listen to comments from consumers, producers and other interested parties at the hearing. Steps are also being implemented to post future rate filings to the Maryland Insurance Administration’s website for review.
