Victoria August was appointed the Associate Commissioner for Hearings in February 2017 after serving as Associate Commissioner of Compliance and Enforcement since August 2014.Prior to joining the Insurance Administration, August served as a senior contracts consultant for Becton Dickinson Diagnostics. In this capacity, August drafted contracts to meet regulatory requirements. Ms. August also worked in multiple law firms, where her practice focused on insurance defense and civil litigation. She brings more than 10 years experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, serving as in-house counsel for State Farm Insurance Company, and managing a claims department at Nationwide Insurance Company while attending law school at night.
August holds a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of Delaware and a J.D., Magna cum Laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She is an active member of the Maryland bar and the United States District Court Bar for the District of Maryland.
